Gold Seeker Closing Report: Gold and Silver Gain With Stocks and Oil

The Metals:

Gold climbed $12.60 to $1288.30 by midmorning in New York before it chopped back lower at times, but it still ended with a gain of 0.63%.  Silver rose to as high as $19.549 and ended with a gain of 0.31%.

Euro gold rose to about €979, platinum gained $4.25 to $1408.25, and copper remained at about $3.13.

Gold and silver equities traded mostly slightly higher for most of the day, but they then drifted back lower in the last couple of hours of trade and ended near unchanged.

Oil rose along with the U.S. dollar index on mostly better than expected economic data that sent treasuries lower.

The Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P rose on positive earnings reports and economic optimism.

Among the big names making news in the market today were Dell, Morgan Stanley, Resolution, Johnson Controls, and Men’s Wearhouse.
